Recently I haver been getting fluttering muscles, in my thighs, calves and buttocks. It's most noticeable at night, in bed when the muscles are relaxed. From what I have read it's a benign condition that needs no treatment although there are some occasions when treatment might be necessary. I wondered if it was a common side effect of RA or the drugs used to treat it. Does anyone else experience this phenomenon? Paul Barrett

Does anyone else experience this phenomenon? Hi Paul, I've looked at a lot of papers on muscle twitching and nothing seems too drastic. I've sent this link below which hopefully you haven't already read! http://www.dailymail.co....ret-legs-twitching.html

Yes I saw that one (although I'm always a little cautious of Daily Mail content as they can be a bit alarmist) but thanks anyway for the link. @Julie - that sounds about the same for me Paul Barrett

Hi Paul
I am getting muscle twitching at the moment in my legs. It's always worse when my inflammation is active, have you noticed that? My rheumy says it's the inflammation suppressing the nerve and muscle fibres. Potassium is supposed to help so eat lots of bananas.
If you are at all worried ask your GP about it as R.A can cause muscle twitching but there are other causes too. Hope it improves
best wishes Rebecca

Yes, I do experience it when I am having trouble. I'll try the banana treatment. Thanks for that tip Paul Barrett

Never been a fan of cauliflower cheese Dorothy, sure it won't affect the potassium but likely to be higher in calories, fat, salt or anything else that makes things tasty! Angie X Be yourself - everyone else is taken. XX

not fluttering muscles related,
but my potassium levels were a little on the low side about 6 months ago .. turns out it was to do with Benzoflouramazide i take ( water tablet ) as part of my cocktail for high blood pressure,
stopped them, eat about two banana's a week and was back to normal within the month, blood pressure fine .. so one less drug off my list.
